asbestos poisoning?

Written by admin on February 26, 2010 – 2:57 pm -

we work in a renovated building where asbestos insulation was sealed in by a tarpauline and then a hardiflex ceiling was installed. since then, i have the sniffles combined with itching nostrils all the time. is there a possibility that i am ingesting asbestos and am wondering if this is an allergic reaction to the asbestos? other workers dont seem to have any similar reactions.

The affects of asbestosis take years to be come apparant and then affect the lungs. As it is sealed i doubt that you are actually being exposed to it.

Asbestos is found in form of silicate fibers that are very light in weight and can easily travel by air. These fibers or dust particles of asbestos are easily inhaled or swallowed and cause various diseases including asbestosis, a chronic lung disease; mesothelioma, cancer of the lining of lungs, chest and stomach and other deadly diseases.
